Do you have any questions?
Why the United States and Canada?
The American education system is the only system that allows athletes to combine competitive sports with university studies.
In addition, with an artistic gymnastics scholarship, athletes can cover a significant portion of academic expenses. Often, there are also opportunities to combine athletic and academic scholarships, further reducing the total cost.
Schools in the United States and Canada offer artistic gymnastics scholarships to team members, allowing athletes to finance their studies through gymnastics.
Thanks to this opportunity, athletes can enjoy an experience with many advantages compared to the Spanish system, including:
Balancing studies and sports
Traveling across the United States and Canada for free with the team
Earning an academic degree from a U.S. or Canadian institution
Achieving excellent English skills
Meeting people from many different countries
Living unforgettable experiences
For these reasons, artistic gymnastics opens up a world of possibilities for athletes.
Artistic Gymnastics Scholarships in the United States and Canada
Each athletic league has a maximum number of artistic gymnastics scholarships it can award.
Within that limit, schools decide how to allocate scholarship funds among their athletes.
Coaches distribute full and partial scholarships to members of the gymnastics team.
Typically, athletes must be among the top performers on the team to receive a scholarship.
There are also opportunities called walk-ons.
These allow athletes to join the team without receiving a scholarship.
After one year in this position, depending on the athlete’s performance, they may earn an artistic gymnastics scholarship for subsequent years.
| NCAA D I | 205 | 9,9 | 29 |
| NCAA DII | 211 | 9 | 31 |
| NCAA DIII * | 412 | – | 29 |
| NAIA | 188 | 12 | 28 |
| NJCAA | 69 | 18 | 24 |
| TOTAL | 1.085 |
Fútbol Femenino
| Liga Universitaria | Número de Universidades | Límite de becas por equipo | Media de jugadoras por equipo |
| NCAA D I | 332 | 14 | 28 |
| NCAA DII | 263 | 9.9 | 27 |
| NCAA DIII * | 438 | – | 24 |
| NAIA | 192 | 12 | 24 |

* Las universidades que compiten en NCAA Division 3 son universidades que no pueden ofrecer becas deportivas por lo que no ofrecen becas de futbol pero se pueden obtener otro tipo de ayudas o becas académicas importantes.
How does the process work for obtaining artistic gymnastics scholarships in the United States and Canada?
The goal of Awex Education is to help athletes from around the world access educational institutions in the U.S. and Canada with sports and/or academic scholarships.
We look for the best schools for each athlete, as well as the highest possible scholarship.
Below is an overview of the process to obtain an artistic gymnastics scholarship at an American school. The first part focuses on what the athlete must do to achieve the best athletic and academic results:
Reach the highest possible gymnastics level: The higher the athlete’s skill level, the greater the chances of obtaining a scholarship. A higher level also provides a wider range of options. It is important to plan training sessions and competition schedules to achieve the best possible scores.
Achieve the highest possible academic level: Focusing on studies is crucial to maximize scholarship opportunities. High academic performance can also lead to academic scholarships, reducing annual costs. Proper preparation for TOEFL and SAT exams is essential.

The second part of the process is handled by Awex Education.

Multiple options: Families can choose from several alternatives within their budget.
Assistance in final school selection: We advise and guide, but the final decision is made by the family.
Final offer process: We handle the signature of the final school offer.

Career preparation: For athletes in their 3rd or 4th university year, we offer a course at a British university to prepare for the workforce and help secure job opportunities.
Personalized Support and Communication
A key factor that sets our service apart is our close, personal support.
We maintain continuous communication with athletes and families via WhatsApp or calls, and in urgent situations, we can be contacted at any time outside office hours.
Academic requirements
Another key factor in securing a good educational institution is academic performance—including high school grades, SAT, and TOEFL scores. If two athletes have similar athletic ability but one has a stronger academic record, the coach will usually award the scholarship to the student with better academics.
This is because athletes must meet minimum academic requirements, making academics as important as sports in several ways:
Athletic eligibility: Minimum grades are required on exams to participate in sports leagues.
School admission: Athletes must meet the academic requirements on SAT and TOEFL exams to be accepted.
Additional academic scholarships: Strong academic performance may also make an athlete eligible for academic scholarships, which can be added to the athletic scholarship to increase the total funding.
In short, the higher the grades, the wider the range of options for the athlete, and the more funding a school may offer.
Each school or coach has different minimum academic requirements, which is why at Awex Education we carefully study each athlete’s academic and athletic profile to find the school that best fits their abilities and goals.
What level of artistic gymnastics is required?
In the United States and Canada, there are over a thousand educational institutions with artistic gymnastics teams participating in various leagues. Within this large range of schools, the level of gymnastics varies widely.
Artistic gymnastics programs typically offer more scholarships to female athletes than male athletes, meaning women generally have higher chances of receiving a gymnastics scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on each athlete’s athletic and academic performance.
Coaches usually begin contacting athletes one or even two years before they start at the school. However, final decisions are generally based on performance results from the year prior to enrollment, when athletes are in their final year of high school.
Although athletes usually specialize in a particular event, coaches look for versatile gymnasts who can compete in multiple events within their category.
In middle- and long-distance events, the opportunities can be even greater, as these athletes can compete in both cross country and track. This versatility may make coaches more interested in these athletes and offer higher scholarships.
