How the process works

Here we explain how the process of obtaining an athletic scholarship at an American school works.
This first stage is where the athlete must focus on achieving the best possible athletic and academic results:

1. Reach the highest athletic level possible:
The higher the athlete’s performance level, the greater the chances of earning an athletic scholarship in the U.S. or Canada. A strong performance also opens up more options to choose from. It’s important to plan training sessions and competition schedules strategically in order to achieve the best possible results.

2. Achieve the best possible academic level:
Academic performance is key to increasing scholarship opportunities. The stronger the academic record, the better the chances of also earning academic scholarships, which further reduce annual costs. Preparing well in advance for the TOEFL and SAT exams is essential.

The second part of the process is handled by Awex Education.

It’s very important to contact Awex Education in advance and start the process early — ideally 1 to 2 years before the planned start date in the U.S. or Canada. Starting early significantly increases the chances of earning a scholarship and having more options to choose from.

We begin with a personalized evaluation of the student’s athletic and academic levels, as well as the expectations of the student and their family.
At Awex Education, this evaluation is completely FREE and without any commitment. We meet with the athlete and family to explain the realistic scholarship opportunities available. Once the family decides to move forward, we take care of the following steps:

What Awex Education does

• Individual case analysis:
  We evaluate each athlete’s sports level, academic background, and preferences regarding schools. We then search for the best options that match the family’s athletic, academic, and financial criteria.

• Personal progress plan:
  We create a personalized follow-up sheet for each athlete, where we plan the next steps with the family — exam dates, preparation strategies (depending on the league), and short-, medium-, and long-term goals.

• Exam registration support:
  We assist with the registration process for the SAT and TOEFL exams.

• Sports video guidance and editing:
  We help create the athletic highlight video, offering advice and guidance to ensure quality. This video is a crucial part of the recruiting process. We handle the final editing of the athlete’s video.

• Athletic and academic profile creation:
  Once the video is ready, we create a complete athlete profile to present to university coaches.

• School outreach:
  We contact schools that fit the athlete’s profile and preferences.
  Awex Education works with most educational institutions across the U.S. and Canada, in all states, to find the best possible fit.

• Scholarship negotiation:
  We negotiate directly with coaches and schools to obtain the best possible scholarship offers and conditions.

• Options report:
  We present a detailed report with several scholarship options, including:
  school name, location, size, academic and athletic level, tuition cost without scholarship, scholarship amount, and final annual cost.

• Multiple options within budget:
  We always offer several alternatives so families can choose the one that best suits them.

• Guidance in school selection:
  We advise and support families in making their final choice — but the final decision is always up to the family.

• Signing the offer:
  We manage the signing process with the chosen institution.

• League admission:
  We handle the academic league registration process (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA).

• School admission process:
  We take care of all admissions paperwork — sending transcripts, SAT/TOEFL scores, and required documents.

• Housing and meal plan arrangements:
  We ensure the athlete’s accommodation and meal plans are set up.

• Medical insurance:
  We arrange the athlete’s health insurance for the U.S. or Canada.

• Student visa process:
  We manage the entire student visa application process for each athlete.

• Travel and arrival organization:
  We organize flights and arrival logistics, ensuring someone is available to welcome the athlete upon arrival.

• Arrival support:
  We provide guidance and practical help for first-day questions — money transfers, bank cards, local assistance, etc.

• On-campus job assistance:
  We help athletes find on-campus job opportunities.

• Continuous support throughout the stay:
  We offer full ongoing support during the athlete’s stay in the U.S. or Canada — including school changes, questions, paperwork, or any issues that may arise — all at no additional cost.

• Career preparation:
  For students in their junior or senior year, we offer a career preparation course at a UK university that helps them transition into the professional world and find job opportunities.
